Whitsand Bay: Lying east of Looe is Whitsand Bay, a sandy beach that stretches for miles. Needless to say, its a great place to take children - and you might even catch sight of a surfer or two.
Polperro: A short distance to the west of Looe, Polperro is one of Cornwalls loveliest villages. The area is popular with artists, as it once was with smugglers! Those days are revived in the Polperro Heritage Museum of Smuggling and Fishing, and there are opportunities to see the coves that provided their cover. Stroll around the narrow streets (no cars allowed) that evoke quieter times. |

South West Coast Path: This is the longest National Trail in Britain, passing through the counties of Somerset, Devon, Cornwall and Dorset. Of course, theres no need to tackle the walk in one holiday! It can be broken into manageable stretches, all offering fantastic views. Bear in mind, however, that this is often rugged terrain, so conditions can sometimes be difficult.
The Seafood Restaurant, Padstow: One of Britains most famous chefs, Rick Stein, creates fabulous fish dishes at this superior Cornish restaurant. Contact: 01841 532700 |
