Looe, Cornwall sandy beaches, seafood restaurants and the Festival of the Sea.

The busy fishing port of Looe is one of south Cornwall’s prettiest resorts. Sandy beaches, scenic boat tours and excellent fish restaurants are all within easy reach. And if you want to abandon the car for the day, take the train that runs between Looe and Liskeard.

Further afield, this ancient county claims legendary stories of King Arthur and daring pirate raids. For walkers and cyclists, there are spectacular stretches of beach and coastline, plus some of Britain’s oldest and prettiest towns. And there’s no shortage of family activities, with theme parks, steam railways and a range of museums.

A river divides Looe into East and West, with both sides linked by a seven-arched, stone bridge. Wander the cobbled streets among the galleries, shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes. Have a look around the museum at the Old Guildhall, which has stood in Looe for centuries. On a fine day, a stroll around the harbour isn’t complete without a walk on the Banjo Pier.
